Recently, I’ve received some great advice from my “crush-it-crew” leader and mentor, Marissa Roy. If you don’t already follow her, you should https://www.instagram.com/marissaroyfitness/. Marissa is an online diet and personal training coach and puts out great content. The advice she gave was, “just start.” We all have grand plans and dreams that seem damn near impossible to achieve. We’re our own worst critic. We may want to start something new, but fear sets in, we settle on doubt, and rattle off ten different excuses of why we can’t/shouldn’t do something–all before we even try.
This very website has been one GIANT dream of mine. A website may be a simple process to someone who works in IT, social networking, or the like. To me, starting a website from scratch, not to mention sharing my thoughts/advice/life with the world is down-right terrifying. But listening to that simple advice, “just start,” gave me the push to set off on a path I have only dreamed about until this point.
Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can. ~Arthur Ashe
If you have a goal in mind that seems out of reach, don’t sike yourself out before getting started. Tell someone your plan and lay out the map that you need to follow in order to get there. If you don’t know the way, find a mentor in your field of interest, and don’t be afraid to dream big! Just start.
